GoingVC Marketing & Content Associate
GoingVC was founded in 2016 with the goal of providing individuals with a more concrete pathway into venture capital and has continued to grow into a vibrant organization built around the mission of making venture capital education, investing, networks, and talent more accessible to those with the desire to succeed. We currently run our flagship program, two cohorts per year, as well as the active angel community, GoingVC Angels, for both new and seasoned investors to gain exposure to venture investing. GoingVC is also actively backing early-stage startups through its investment vehicle, GoingVC Partners.
GoingVC’s 16-week flagship program is aimed at helping its members take the next steps in their venture capital careers or launch their own fund. The program offers participants a multitude of opportunities to build and fortify their understanding of venture capital, as well as chances to grow their venture capital networks, and gain legitimate work experience in the field.
We started the program because – having come from venture capital backgrounds ourselves – we experienced first-hand how challenging and competitive of an industry it is to break into, and we wanted to be a resource for others as they attempted to navigate their own paths into the business.
In January of 2024, GoingVC also announced the complete acquisition of the VC content, job, and thought leadership platforms VC Stack and Startup & VC, cumulatively expanding our following by over 100,000 readers. In addition to leading existing initiatives at GoingVC, the Marketing Associate will also play a key role in helping amplify the brand, content authorship, and reach of these two platforms.
The Role
GoingVC is hiring a full-time, remote Marketing & Content Associate to join its rapidly expanding team.
As the Marketing & Content Associate at GoingVC, you’ll play a key role in shaping and amplifying our brand narrative across both organic and paid channels. Your core responsibility will be to research, write, and publish compelling, insight-driven content and research papers focused on the Venture Capital and Startup ecosystem; including platforms, organizations, functions, and players that support the industry. The Marketing Associate will need to be skilled in the entire content creation, brand development, and campaign publication strategy & process. You will support the GoingVC team by developing and delivering impactful communication, campaigns, blogs, events, and social media content that amplify our brand and that of our industry partners; bringing new creativity, ideas and experience to the team!
In addition the role entails leading the marketing strategy and initiatives at GoingVC across all facets of our ecosystem including the flagship program, GoingVC Angels, GoingVC Partners, our Research Library, our Podcast, and other new offerings developed. GoingVC also recently acquired the VC content and job board platforms, VC Stack, and Startup & VC (collectively 100k+ followers) to which this candidate would play an instrumental role in leading on the frontier of short form, long form, blog, and sophisticated social media content.
Specific Responsibilities Will Include:
- Write and provide content, creative input, deep market research, brand strategy, and direction for Venture Capital related marketing blogs, campaigns, social content, newsletters and other materials focused on providing insight to our audience on the following:
- Trends on the investment landscape for startup founders, VCs, and LPs,
- Professional job functions in the industry,
- Technology stacks that service and support the industry,
- Trends across specific geographies, demographics, and industry sectors relevant to the startup and VC ecosystem
- Develop content calendars and editorial pipelines for campaign deployment across platforms, with a focus on paid and performance-driven content (e.g., LinkedIn, newsletter ads, event promos).
- Lead the development of long-form, research-driven content anchored in original research and tailored to GoingVC’s core audiences (aspiring VCs, LPs, founders, and ecosystem partners).
- Design and produce visual marketing assets (e.g., ad graphics, downloadable PDFs, and social media creatives) to support paid campaigns and content marketing; experience with tools like Figma, Canva, or similar is highly preferred.
- Collaborate with the team on performance marketing strategy and execution, including A/B testing creative assets, tracking key metrics (e.g., CTR, CVR), and iterating on ad campaigns across platforms like LinkedIn to improve conversion and reach.
- Draft content and copy for special events and other initiatives including Fireside Chats, Partner Events, Podcasts, Startup Showcase Events, and more
- Lead and collaborate cross-functionally with our Marketing and other teams to ensure successful implementation of Marketing Campaigns
- Plan and execute the deployment of one-time, recurring, automated, triggered, and multi-channel campaigns
- Clearly define, track, and report on key metrics to measure the success of partnership programs and published for both current and prospect partners
- Help manage our Marketing tech stack across platforms including Kit, AirTable, Zapier, and Webflow
- Nurture relationships with VCs in the industry and members of GoingVC’s community
- Continuously refine GoingVC’s brand positioning in line with our target audiences, the competitive and develop marketing plans with specific objectives across various channels and segments
- Work closely with the GoingVC leadership and Marketing team to develop new marketing, content, and media strategies for the medium-long term
Who We’re Looking For
This role is suitable for someone with 2-3 years of content marketing, market research, brand development & strategy, and / or related experience who has ambitions to continue building their career in and around the VC and startup world over time.
With this in mind, successful candidates for the full-time, remote Marketing & Content Associate position should be able to check many of the following boxes:
Must Haves:
- 2 to 3 years experience in a content, marketing associate, marketing assistant, brand development & strategy, communications, or related role
- You’re an exceptional content writer - with demonstrated experience drafting blog posts, published articles, white papers, etc. and/or managing a team of writers with different backgrounds
- Intrinsically passionate about the startup, entrepreneurship, and Venture Capital ecosystem
- You have an understanding, and / or direct work experience in the Startup & Venture Capital industry across broader ecosystem service providers and vendors in the industry
- Ability to conduct detailed research and market map industries in the VC landscape
- Self-starter, you should be able to figure out what to do and a plan of action and then execute on it independently
- Demonstrated knowledge of brand-building strategies and campaign
- Strong project management skills with experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional partners, prioritize high-impact activities, and keep complex projects moving forward
- Some experience with marketing tech stack software and CRM-based tools, such as Kit, Figma, Canva, AirTable, and Typeform
- You’re a clear, crisp communicator and value brevity in your conversations
- You are able to adapt on the fly and handle unforeseen developments with ease
- You are extremely polite and responsive - (this is super important, as GoingVC is regularly in correspondences with VC investors and other professionals)
Nice to Haves
- You have experience building and managing campaigns in Linkedin Campaign Manager
- You’re familiar with business productivity tools such as Trello, Slack, and Google Drive
- You have an entrepreneurial mentality and aren’t afraid to challenge varying ideas and opinions with your own
